Argosy Toys celebrates its 65th year in 2012. The shop opened in 1947 and was then called ‘The Argosy’. The name comes from the Dubrovnik ships which first arrived in England in 1510 and the word ‘Argosy’ became synonymous with a large, rich cargo ship or treasure laden ship.
On top of that the current owner Paul Wohl is celebrating his 25th year at the shop, having started in 1987 at the tender age of 14. He is looking forward to a further 25 years.
